A Structure for Prayer
- Choose
a TIME
Make it a time dedicated only to prayer. Try to make
it at the best time of your day.
- Choose
a PLACE
It should be free from distractions.
- CENTER
yourself
Breathe deeply: in through your nose and out through
your mouth. Relax your body. Quiet your mind.
- Go
over BASIC FACTS in your mind
God created you out of love and loves you always (Genesis
1:27-31, I John 4:10-11)
God sent Jesus who gives us life (John 3:16, ephesians
2:4-50)
Jesus died and rose, conquering sin and death (Romans
5:12-18, I Corinthians 15:20-26)
- ASK
questions
"Seek the things that are above" (Colossians
3:1)
Ask questions about daily meditations, Scripture passages
and thoughts.
- LISTEN
for an answer
Expect to hear God; Listen within yourself, in Scripture,
in others and throughout the day.
- RESPOND
to God
We can respond by: asking for forgiveness, praying for
wisdom, praying for others, committing ourselves to
acting, being Christ for others.
