Volunteer with the Good Shepherds
at Kateri Day CampAugust 2 - 9, 2008

(Monmouth County)This is a live-in, week long* volunteer program sponsored by the Sisters of the Good Shepherd. It is an opportunity for single Catholic women.
* Meals & lodging are provided.
Kateri Day Camp, situated on over 250 acres on the Good Shepherd Convent property, provides a safe and wholesome country setting for at-risk and handicapped children to attend summer camp.
Children ages 5-13, from diverse social and cultural backgrounds, enjoy cooperative games, sports, music, arts and crafts, field trips and nature study designed to promote self-respect, respect for others and for all living things.
As a volunteer you will work-one-on-one, supervise and assist a child with special or diverse needs. You will have the opportunity to make a difference in the life of a young person.
The week will include:
- Orientation to the mission and spirituality of the Sisters of the Good Shepherd.
- Morning and evening prayer and theological reflection.
- Living in a private apartment (on the grounds) with no more than 6 other volunteers who are interested in deepening their Catholic faith and learning more about the Catholic social teaching, the environment and vocation discernment.
- Some free time to enjoy the Jersey Shore and participate in other recreational activities!
